If you’ve noticed fewer DIY posts on the blog over the past couple of years, it’s because I’ve shifted my focus from working on the car to making music. Some fellow local DeLorean owners and I started a band called Outatime. I play guitar, bass, and occasionally drums, and we practice regularly—it’s a lot of fun.

We even played a short set at the DeLorean Midwest Open House:

I designed and built the white guitar in the center of the photo! I’ll get back to DIY DeLorean projects eventually, though probably not as frequently. With so many priorities pulling at my time, I’ve decided to dedicate most of my free hours to music.

During my 2025 vacation in Los Angeles, I visited the Petersen Automotive Museum, where I saw their gold-plated DeLorean and the restored “A Car” (the Hero Car) from Back to the Future.

The BTTF conversion required removing the front marker lights. The gaskets were dry rotted, and one of the light sockets was very corroded. Before reinstalling the lights, I opted for some upgrades.

I was still using incandescent bulbs, so opted for LEDs. I also got a light socket from the same vendor:

I purchased the side marker flasher from DM-eng. This allows the side marker lights to flash with the turn signals. Sorry, I didn’t get any pictures of the installation.

While troubleshooting a few items, I upgraded my front turn signal LEDs, and finally purchased the correct LED flasher relay. My previous relay wasn’t the correct type, and I had used jumper wires to make it work.

I already had the following supplies on hand:

• 16 gauge primary wire (red)
• 14 gauge primary wire (black)
